Philadelphia Fed Releases July Leading Indexes
|
|
August 31, 2010 — The July leading indexes for the 50 states were released today. All but four state coincident indexes (Arizona, Michigan, Montana, and Oregon) are projected to grow over the next six months. One state (Alabama) is projected to grow strongly (greater than 4.5 percent).

Philadelphia Fed Releases July Coincident Indexes

August 24, 2010 — The July coincident indexes for the 50 states were released today. In the past month, the indexes increased in 43 states, decreased in four (Missouri, Montana, Nevada, and West Virginia), and remained unchanged in three (Iowa, New Mexico, and Vermont) for a one-month diffusion index of 78.

Firms See Declines in Business Activity

August 19, 2010 — Regional manufacturing executives responding to the Business Outlook Survey in August reported moderate weakness in the sector. The general activity index decreased to - 7.7 from a reading of 5.1 in July. In the special questions, firms were asked about export activity.

Forecasters See Slower Pace of Economic Recovery

August 13, 2010 — The outlook for growth in the U.S. economy looks weaker now than it did just three months ago, according to the 36 participants in the Third Quarter Survey of Professonal Forecasters. The downward revision is accompanied by weaker conditions in the labor market. The forecasters have reduced their projections for Inflation, but they see little risk of deflation. August 4, 2010 — The Philadelphia Fed has released the second quarter South Jersey Business Survey. The survey participants, members of the Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey, External Link were asked about overall changes in business activity in their firms since the previous quarter. They were also asked about their expectations over the next six months.

New Indicator: Leading Indexes for All 50 States
|

August 3, 2010 — The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia's Research Department launched a series of leading indexes for all 50 states. The new monthly indexes are a six-month forecast of the state coincident indexes. June’s leading indexes were released today.
